Position:CYT, MA, teacher
My yoga journey really sparked from my love of dance. I danced competitively until college, and when dance was not an option anymore, yoga provided my soul with the movement and discipline that I needed. I have been practicing yoga since high school, but it was not until I began hot yoga here at Yoga Innovations that my practice became more of a lifestyle than just physical activity. I completed my teacher training in May of 2013 and began teaching shortly after. I am originally from the great state of Colorado, but have developed a deep love for Pittsburgh and have created a wonderful home with my husband and daughter here in the South Hills. Outside of yoga, I am a Children's Art Therapist and run therapeutic yoga groups for children. For my masters thesis, I studied the therapeutic benefits of combining yoga and art for children with neurodevelopment disorders. In my experience, I have found that when children are given the opportunity and space to practice breathing and moving with intention, they are able to utilize these skills in their everyday life and strengthen their coping skills. My passion is helping children learn to breath, move with intention, be genuine and self-expressive. I look forward to sharing my practice with each one of you.
