Meet Kyle

Why did you decide to go through teacher training?

I first found yoga at YogaInnovations by amazing accident. I had never done any yoga before, in fact I was a bodybuilder at the time and I thought yoga was going to be some simple stretching. I purchased a 20 class pass and thought to myself, hey if I don’t like it, it’s only 20 classes. I decided to go through teacher training after my 4th week of visiting YogaInnovations. Something had happened in that studio that changed my life. I started breathing and things off my mat became so much clearer. I woke up one day and realized I am in charge of my own life, I am my own destiny. So I decided to expand upon that and go through training.

What is your favorite pose and why?

My favorite pose is without question chair pose. For me it represents growth. When I first found yoga, I was unable to do chair pose. I had a lot of really serious knee issues stemming from my military career that limited my lower body capabilities. Chair pose or Utkatasana is also one of my favorite poses for the fact that if you can find ease and steady breathing in this pose, you can pretty much learn to breath when life throws just about anything your way.

What is your least favorite pose and why?

I don’t know if I have a least favorite pose. Yoga is always changing for me, the poses I couldn’t do last week or last month I may be getting really good at now. Poses I thought I was good at last month might be getting fine-tuned even more now. The yoga poses are meant to show you where you may be stuck in life. Next time you go to class, breath deep in your “least favorite pose” and see if you can’t realize what it is you’re stuck on. Then breathe again and try to let it go. It isn’t worth holding on to I promise.

If you could offer one piece of advice for someone who was thinking about going through teacher training what would it be?

If you are thinking about going through training, I would say do it. I know, it so cliché and doesn’t seem like much of an answer, but it seems to be the same few words we all have to say. (We should see if we can get sponsored by Nike.) Just Do It! But seriously, it was the best choice I’ve made, so far, in life. I you won’t regret it.

What is one thing you wish people knew about you before meeting you?

What I wish people knew about me before meeting me? HMMM. I guess I would just say that I’m pretty open minded and I’m an open book. If you have a question or if you just want to chat, come say hello.
